On the first Tuesday of each month, Harborough District Neighbourhood Watch Association in partnership with the local Police host a stall in Harborough's indoor market from 9am-3pm. As well as providing free crime prevention information and low cost security devices, we also offer an opportunity to other statutory and voluntary bodies to join us each month.
Developed by Help the Aged in 2005, National Falls Awareness Day (NFAD) provides an opportunity for everyone - older people, local practioners and organisations- to work together to raise awareness about falls and to highlight the good work that is going on in falls prevention locally.
This years theme, Getting out and about, is about encouraging older people to:
- identify opportunities in their environment to take part in physical activity - essential for healthy ageing;
- and be aware of the potential hazards presented in their environment, inside and outside the home, that can increase the risk of falling.
This stall is also an opportunity for any resident to come along and talk to their local Neighbourhood Watch representatives and their Police Community Support Officers (PCSO's). IF YOU REQUIRE FURTHER INFORMATION ABOUT NATIONAL FALLS AWARENESS DAY PLEASE MAIL TO: falls@helptheaged.org.uk |
